Make Forty Hall a visit of its own
Forty Hall Estate combines a historic house with gardens and parkland, giving you options for a short visit or a longer wander. Start with the estate's visitor information and choose what you want to see rather than assuming the museum and every part of the grounds keep the same hours.
If you are arranging a group visit, an activity or a special occasion, ask the venue about booking and permissions first. Check paths, facilities and accessibility for your particular plans, especially if the weather has been wet.
Choose a garden or a town-centre walk
Myddelton House Gardens at Bulls Cross brings together the botanical interests and garden legacy of E A Bowles. Look at the Lee Valley visitor page for seasonal access, facilities and any current restrictions before travelling.
For a shorter break near Enfield Town, Town Park and the ornamental New River Loop provide a greener change of pace. The loop is a local wildlife site, with water and greenery close to the shopping streets. Take care beside water, allow for muddy paths and choose a route suited to everyone in your group.
Add a performance or a food stop
Dugdale Arts Centre on London Road brings performances, a museum and a café into the town centre. Its programme changes, so select the actual show, workshop or exhibition you want to see and check booking requirements.
A market browse or a nearby café makes a useful addition without overloading the day. Keep Forty Hill, Bulls Cross and the town centre as distinct stops when planning travel; a list of local attractions does not mean they are all next door to one another.
